D. E. Shaw in Non-Performing Colombian Loan Portfolio Investment

Cleary Gottlieb represented D. E. Shaw in the joint acquisition with Lehman Brothers Inc. of a portfolio of non-performing Colombian loans from Colombia’s Banco AV Villas S.A. Cleary helped D. E. Shaw and Lehman establish a joint venture Colombian entity that now owns the loan portfolio. Cleary also helped with the financing and servicing aspects of the deal. The joint venture closed on December 27.

The D. E. Shaw group is a global investment and technology development firm with approximately $35 billion in aggregate investment capital.
