DIRECTV in Launch of Sundance Channel in Latin America

On June 7, 2013, DIRECTV Latin America LLC and AMC/Sundance Channel Latin America LLC formed a joint venture and entered into a series of initial agreements pursuant to which DIRECTV and AMC will partner to launch the Sundance Channel on DIRECTV’s pay TV platform in Latin America. Cleary Gottlieb represented DIRECTV in this transaction.

The Sundance Channel will originally be launched as a Spanish-language channel in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and the Caribbean (excluding islands belonging to the United States and France). DIRECTV also plans to launch the Sundance Channel as a Portuguese-language channel for its users in Brazil by January 2015.
