Cleary Gottlieb is representing Morgan Stanley, Lazard, Frères & Co. and Nomura Securities as financial advisors to Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group in its proposed merger with UFJ Holdings. The transaction is valued at approximately $30 billion, and the combined company will be the world’s largest banking group, with assets of approximately $1.7 trillion. The transaction is expected to close this October.
