Gabe’s Acquires Old Time Pottery

Cleary Gottlieb represented Warburg Pincus and its portfolio company, Gabe’s, in the acquisition by Gabe’s of Old Time Pottery.

The transaction was announced on April 19, 2023.

The combined companies will together employ approximately 8,000 associates and expand their footprints to 169 stores, operating in 20 states with the support of six distribution centers, to serve an expanded customer base throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Southeast.

Gabe’s is a leading off-price retailer of fashion and footwear, essentials, beauty, accessories, and home merchandise. Founded in 1961 in Morgantown, West Virginia, Gabe’s operates 128 stores in 15 states.

Old Time Pottery is a merchandise chain focused on home and seasonal products. Founded in 1986, Old Time Pottery operates 41 stores in 12 states across the Southeast and Midwest.
