Google in an Italian Antitrust Authority Investigation

May 14, 2010

Cleary Gottlieb assisted Google in offering remedies to the Italian Antitrust Authority in the investigation proceeding initiated last August for an alleged abuse of dominant position in the online advertising sector.

Commitments proposed by Google, published on IAA’s website on May 14, aim at disclosing the revenue share applied to advertising revenues derived from the websites of its AdSense online partners and supplementing its Help Center opt-out mechanism, by maintaining an additional mechanism that allows publishers to opt out of Google News without opting out of Google’s natural search results.
