Cleary Gottlieb represented Grupo Clarín S.A. in the split-up (escisión) of its cable TV, broadband and data transmission businesses, all of which are operated by its subsidiary, Cablevisión S.A., into a new Argentine corporation under the name of Cablevisión Holding S.A.
On September 28, 2016, Grupo Clarín’s shareholders approved the split-up, which remains subject to obtaining the required regulatory authorizations, approvals and consents. Cablevisión Holding will apply to have its shares listed on the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange and traded in the Merval, and it may also list on one or more additional foreign stock exchanges.
