Cleary Gottlieb is representing Ipsos in its acquisition of Synovate for £525 million from Aegis. The transaction was announced on July 27, and is conditional upon the approval of the disposal by Aegis’ shareholders, as required by the listing rules in the United Kingdom. Completion of the transaction is also subject to antitrust clearances and is expected to occur on or around September 30.
Synovate is Aegis’ market research business and has operations in over 60 jurisdictions. Ipsos is currently the fifth largest global research company in the world, with 9,500 employees working in 67 countries. Following the transaction the enlarged Ipsos group will be the third largest global market research company.
