June 12, 2017

Cleary Gottlieb represented longtime client Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), which raised $9.3 billion for its third flagship Asia private equity fund, KKR Asian Fund III L.P.

The fund focuses on leveraged buyouts, management buyouts and platform build-ups in Asia. The fund held its final closing on May 31, 2017, and is the largest Asia-focused private equity fund ever.

Investors include sovereign wealth funds, bank-sponsored conduits, state and private pension funds and high net worth individuals. The fund is more than double the size of KKR’s previous Asia-focused fund. KKR has invested over $12 billion in Pan-Asia private equity investments in approximately 55 companies across 10 countries, establishing the firm as one of the region’s most active private equity investors.
