Michael Preston has been named the 2014 M&A Lawyer of the Year at The Asian Lawyer’s inaugural Emerging Markets Awards. In the winner’s profile, The Asian Lawyer highlights Michael’s outstanding work advising TPG Capital on “a broad range of transactions in Indonesia, Myanmar, Australia, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, India and Vietnam and in sectors ranging from banking to real estate, agriculture and medical devices.” In particular, his representation of TPG and a consortium that included Northstar Equity Partners on the sale of Indonesia’s Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation for $1.5 billion is noted for standing out “for its size and complexity.”
The firm also won “M&A Deal of the Year” for the Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional stake sale.
