Port of Dakar SA in $1 Billion Deep-Water Port Project

Cleary Gottlieb acted as counsel to the Société du Port Autonome de Dakar SA, Republic of Senegal’s port authority, in negotiations with DP World regarding the development, financing, and construction of a deep-water port to be located at Ndayane, Senegal.

The new port is expected to replace the existing international port located in Dakar, where DP World acts as container terminal operator, and is expected to be one of the largest commercial ports in West Africa. DP World’s investment in the project is estimated around $1 billion.

The project agreements were signed on December 22, 2020.
