Cleary Gottlieb represented Rothschild & Co and Martin Maurel in connection with their operational and legal combination of their banking business and collective and institutional management business following the merger between the two holding companies of the Rothschild & Co and Martin Maurel groups completed on January 2, 2017.
Rothschild & Co is a family-controlled and independent business and is one of the world’s largest independent financial advisory groups with three main arms: Global Financial Advisory, Private Wealth & Asset Management and Merchant Banking.
Martin Maurel is a family-owned, independent private bank and asset manager. The group is headquartered in Marseille and has major operations in the Provence-Cote d’Azur, Paris and Rhone-Alpes regions of France.
The internal reorganization was completed on July 1, 2017.
As a result of the reorganization, the private banking business of the two groups is performed by Rothschild Martin Maurel and the collective and institutional management business of the two groups is performed by Rothschild Asset Management.
