Sabre in Sale of Travelocity to Expedia for $280 Million in Cash

Cleary Gottlieb represented Sabre in a sale of its Travelocity online travel agency business to Expedia for $280 million in cash. The deal closed on January 23, 2015.

Sabre is a leading technology provider to the global travel and tourism industry. Travelocity is a well-known online travel agency, offering thousands of travel destinations to millions of travelers per month. Expedia is one of the world’s largest travel companies, with an extensive portfolio of online travel brands.

Since August 2013, Travelocity and Expedia have been party to a strategic marketing arrangement under which Expedia powered the technology platforms for Travelocity’s websites in the U.S. and Canada, while Travelocity accessed Expedia’s supply and customer service programs.
