Senior Counsel Alan Beller Appointed to SASB Board of Directors

June 2, 2016

Cleary Gottlieb senior counsel Alan Beller has been appointed as a member of the board of directors for the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board™.

SASB is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides sustainability disclosure standards for use by publicly listed corporations in the U.S. Alan will serve a three-year term effective June 2016.

“The SASB has established a powerful conceptual framework around standard-setting and a thoughtful due process to establish those standards. These critical factors will lead to standards that will provide material information to investors and a practical disclosure framework for issuers,” said Alan. “I am thrilled to be part of the SASB team and the important and well-considered approach they have embraced.”

“Materiality is the cornerstone of SASB’s work. To welcome one of the country’s preeminent securities lawyers to our board is truly an honor,” said Dr. Jean Rogers, SASB CEO & Founder. “Mr. Beller’s leadership will be invaluable as we codify our standards, which are compatible with U.S. securities law and help companies comply with Regulation S-K by disclosing material factors in a cost-effective and decision-useful manner.”
