Cleary Gottlieb is representing Sony Corporation (Sony), which has announced that it has agreed to make an investment of $1 billion to acquire a minority interest in Epic Games Inc. (Epic) through a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony.
Sony’s $1 billion investment builds on its earlier investments in April 2021 and June 2020. The investment allows Sony and Epic to aim to create new social entertainment exploring the connection between digital and physical worlds.
Also investing in the financing round is KIRKBI, the family-owned holding and investment company behind The LEGO Group.
