Lisa Schweitzer and Paul Shim were selected as The American Lawyer’s “Dealmakers in the Spotlight” for the month of September for their representation of Nortel in the successful auction of more than 6,000 of Nortel’s patents and patent applications. Following a multi-day auction at the firm’s New York office, a consortium that includes Microsoft and Apple emerged as the winning bidder with a purchase price of $4.5 billion. The article, in which Lisa and Paul are pictured, is included in the September issue of the magazine.

The firm is currently acting as U.S. bankruptcy counsel to Nortel and its affiliates in their U.S. Chapter 11 proceedings, which are closely coordinated with proceedings in Canada, the United Kingdom and France. To date, Cleary Gottlieb has represented Nortel in seven different Section 363 bankruptcy sales, generating proceeds of more than $7.75 billion.
