Vitro in $2.15 Billion Sale of Glass Container Division to Owens-Illinois

Cleary Gottlieb advised Vitro, the leading glass manufacturer in Mexico, on an agreement announced today to sell its food and beverage glass containers business to Owens-Illinois, Inc. The sale includes five manufacturing plants in Mexico, one plant in Bolivia and the distribution of such products in the United States. The transaction is valued at $2.15 billion. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and the approval of Vitro’s shareholders.
