Cleary Gottlieb represented Worldline, a global leader in payment services, in connection with its agreement to purchase Banco di Desio e della Brianza’s (Banco Desio) merchant acquiring business.
The agreement contemplates the transfer to Worldline Merchant Services Italia (formerly Axepta) of Banco Desio’s merchant acquiring business, comprising over 15,000 merchants, as well as the establishment of a commercial partnership for the upcoming years, aimed at allowing the distribution of Worldline’s payment solutions through the network of Banco Desio. Closing of the transaction is expected in the first quarter of 2023.
