Christian Mahoney Discusses Responsible AI Adoption with Relativity

As a 2026 Relativity “AI Visionary,” Cleary Gottlieb partner and Global Head of e–Discovery and Litigation Technology Christian Mahoney spoke with Relativity on what responsible AI adoption looks like in practice.

Christian discussed the steps toward building confidence in AI adoption: “we test on prior matters, we use it as a quality control tool, [and] we use it in parallel with traditional approaches on cases. Only once we have seen results from these approaches do we start to use it to replace pieces of more traditional approaches.” He also emphasized the importance of mitigating risk through rigorous testing, human oversight, and effective validation strategies.
