Jean-Louis Joris’ practice was focused on mergers and acquisition and financial transactions.
He was distinguished for many years as a leading corporate/M&A lawyer by Chambers Global and Chambers Europe.
Jean-Louis currently devotes a significant part of his time to bar-related activities. He is a director of the Board of the Federation of the French and German speaking bars of Belgium (AVOCATS.BE) and president of the Multi-Jurisdictional Law Firms Committee of the Council of European bars and Law Societies (CCBE). He is also chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Brussels Bar (Ordre français).
He is a founding member and vice-president of the Institut d’Etudes sur la Justice, a private institution that studies and promotes public debate on matters relating to the Judiciary, and is a board member of a number of charitable organizations.
Jean-Louis joined the firm in 1975 in New York, became a partner in 1983 and senior counsel in 2009.
