Practice Assistant

The purpose of this role is to provide high quality secretarial support services to Lawyers.

Practice Assistants are required to work closely with other departments in the Firm to provide seamless support to their allocations and within practice group PA pools.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Diary management including arranging and coordinating meetings
  • Inbox management including email filing
  • Client correspondence
  • Managing client contact information
  • Recording Business Development activity through Interaction
  • Arranging travel - international, domestic and local
  • Event coordination
  • Catering arrangements for meetings
  • Processing expenses through Chrome River
  • Conflict checks, opening New Matters and Compliance processes
  • Supporting associates within a pooled structure
  • Answering phones and taking messages

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good systems and technical knowledge specifically with Microsoft Office suite of software
  • High levels of client service
  • High levels of attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workflow
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of team
  • Flexibility and adaptability 

Education and Experience

  • 5 years of PA experience, preferably in a legal environment
  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, including Math’s and English
