Cleary Gottlieb partner Jean-Yves Garaud was a speaker at the 6th Basel Arbitration and Crime Conference: Updating the Toolkit, organized by the Arbitration and Crime Competence Centre at the University of Basel, the Basel Institute on Governance, and the International Academy of Financial Crime Litigators.
Jean-Yves spoke on Panel 1, “Applicable Law/Methodology,” and discussed the evolution of the topic over the past five years, including the definition of offense (criminal vs. civil law), bribery and other types of corruption (e.g. trading in influence), and mens rea.
