Cleary Gottlieb partners Samuel Chang and Chase Kaniecki participated in the American Conference Institute’s 20th Annual Flagship Conference on Economic Sanctions Enforcement and Compliance.

Sam spoke on the panel, “A Closer Look at the Securities Industry: Analyzing the Increased Focus on Gatekeepers and Advancements for Screening Your Investment Portfolio,” which provided a closer look at OFAC’s focuses on gatekeepers, including investment advisors, accountants, and providers of trust and corporate services, and the impact moving forward.

Chase spoke on the panel, “Middle East Flashpoints: Key Risks & Emerging Trends in Iran and Syria,” which explored the impact of reimposed maximum pressure on Iran in 2025 and continuing pressure on the shadow fleet, monitoring current activities and sanctions readiness if necessary, and Syria-top considerations for re-entering this market.
