Cleary Gottlieb partner Chase Kaniecki and associate B.J. Altvater participated in the American Conference Institute’s 12th National Conference on CFIUS, the leading event for professionals navigating the complexities of foreign investment and national security.
Chase spoke on the panel, “AFIDA and the Evolving CFIUS Focus on Transactions involving Agricultural Land, Critical Infrastructure and Military Installations,” which focused on the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act, which requires foreign persons to disclose their interests in U.S. agricultural land to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
B.J. spoke on the panel, “The Increase of State-Level, “CFIUS-Style” Regulations and Their Interaction with CFIUS,” which offered an engaging look at the increase of state-level foreign investment restrictions, what that means for federal oversight, and where the lines of authority are being drawn in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.
