On April 8, 2014, Cleary Gottlieb partner Matthew D. Slater appeared as a speaker at the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA)’s 22nd biennial Congress. Mr. Slater participated in the plenary session, addressing the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision in BG Group Plc v. Republic of Argentina, which is the first case in which the Court has considered an arbitral award made under an investment treaty. Mr. Slater was counsel of record for Argentina before the Supreme Court.
