Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP announced today that Megan Tang, counsel at Shearman & Sterling LLP in Hong Kong, will join the firm as a partner, effective November 10.

Megan will be based in the firm’s Hong Kong office and will focus on the firm’s China practice, including advising on capital markets transactions for investment banking and corporate clients of the firm in China and throughout Asia.

“Megan’s broad experience in China and across Asia makes her a perfect fit for Cleary Gottlieb and our China practice,” said firm Managing Partner Mark Walker. “Based in Hong Kong, she has represented issuers and underwriters in a wide variety of U.S. and Hong Kong capital markets transactions involving Chinese issuers. She also has experience working on transactions in India, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and other countries in Asia.”

With the addition of Ms. Tang, the firm will have eight partners in Hong Kong and Beijing, three of whom work in the firm’s China practice, and 192 partners worldwide.

“Cleary Gottlieb’s strong practice in China and the rest of Asia, combined with its commitment to further growth and impressive track record of highly consistent and excellent legal work, presents a wonderful opportunity for me to expand my practice while at the same time bolster the firm’s capabilities,” commented Ms. Tang. “I’m very excited to join Cleary Gottlieb and to work with the outstanding lawyers there to further develop the firm’s practice in China and the region.”
