Cleary Gottlieb Earns Top Restructuring Honors

October 3, 2014

Two landmark 2014 restructurings in which Cleary Gottlieb played a major role were honored with “deal of the year” awards in September from the International Tax Review and the Turnaround Management Association of Australia.

The firm received ITR’s “Americas Tax Restructuring Deal of the Year” award for its work in representing an ad hoc group of bondholders in the reorganization of OGX Group, which was the largest debt-for-equity restructuring in Brazil’s history. Additionally, TMA Australia cited the restructuring and recapitalization of Mirabela Nickel and its subsidiaries as one of its “Restructuring Deals of the Year.” Cleary Gottlieb represented an ad hoc group of bondholders in this matter which, among other highlights, was the first-ever cross-border restructuring between Australia and Brazil.
