Cleary Gottlieb Leads M&A Rankings in Q1 2017

Cleary Gottlieb has placed at the top of Thomson Reuters’ and Bloomberg’s quarterly M&A rankings.

Thomson Reuters recognized the firm’s role advising on 21 of the highest-value worldwide deals in Q1 2017, worth $84.2 billion, noting that “the value of global M&A deals rose by a quarter in the first quarter of 2017, with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton leading the way,” placing us in the top spots for worldwide announced M&A and European involvement M&A categories.

The firm was also ranked third in the UK involvement M&A category for the first quarter of 2017.

Bloomberg’s quarterly list put Cleary in the No. 1 slot for three categories of announced deals (by volume): U.S., global and cross-border deals.

The firm was also ranked by Bloomberg as Top Adviser in the Americas M&A Regional Review, with 12 deals, a total volume of $66.4 billion and an average deal size of $5.5 billion, and appeared at the top of FactSet’s quarterly review of M&A activity.
