Cleary Gottlieb’s 30-strong dispute resolution practice in London has been further strengthened by the arrival of James Norris-Jones, who has joined as a partner in the firm’s London office.

His move to Cleary was first announced in November 2017.

James’ practice focuses on commercial dispute resolution, including large scale English High Court litigation and arbitration. He advises on banking, contractual, shareholder and joint venture disputes, claims for breach of directors’ duties, and cases involving fraud and insolvency.

James has come to Cleary from Herbert Smith Freehills, where he was made a partner in 2012. Legal 500 UK describes James as “a quite superb lawyer.”

“We are delighted that James has started with us and that our clients will be able to benefit from his notable experience. His track record speaks for itself. Over the years, James has developed an extremely impressive practice and reputation as one of the most accomplished litigators of his generation,” said Cleary Gottlieb disputes partner Jonathan Kelly.

Disputes partner Sunil Gadhia commented: “Cleary is recognized as one of the leading global firms in the area of disputes, regulatory enforcement and investigations. In London, we have been privileged to be instructed on some of the most sensitive and business-critical matters in the market.” James Norris-Jones commented: “Cleary has a market-leading disputes practice and a deserved reputation for excellence acting for the most sophisticated of clients. I have joined an exceptionally good team here with tremendous bench strength. I look forward to helping to grow Cleary’s disputes practice even further.”

James Norris-Jones joins partners Sunil Gadhia, Jonathan Kelly, Christopher Moore, David Sabel, and Romano Subiotto QC in the London litigation and arbitration practice.
