Cleary Gottlieb partner David Gelfand will join the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General under Assistant Attorney General Bill Baer.
David joined the Washington office as an associate in 1991 and became a partner in 1997. From 2001 to 2004, he was resident in the firm’s Brussels office where he handled matters before the European Commission and national competition authorities throughout Europe.
During his time at Cleary Gottlieb, David has been a major contributor to our global antitrust practice. He has advised numerous U.S. and non-U.S. clients on various landmark transactions, as well as on high-stakes litigations across a number of different industries.
“David is an exceptionally talented and dedicated lawyer with a broad set of skills. He will be a tremendous resource to the U.S. Department of Justice. David will begin his new role at the U.S. Department of Justice on August 26, 2013.
