Cleary Gottlieb Partner Richard Cooper Selected as ‘Outstanding Restructuring Lawyer’ by Turnarounds and Workouts

January 5, 2018

Cleary Gottlieb partner Richard Cooper has again been named an “Outstanding Restructuring Lawyer” for 2017 by Turnarounds and Workouts.

This is the second year in a row that he has been recognized, and he is one of only 15 lawyers nationwide chosen for this award.

Turnarounds and Workouts highlighted Rich’s role as key advisor to Puerto Rico in precedent-setting $72 billion municipal restructuring, the largest in U.S. history. Rich was also noted as one of the principal architects of the PROMESA insolvency provisions and as counsel in some of the most groundbreaking bankruptcy and restructuring deals including providing counsel to Banco Inbursa in its Chapter 11 filing with approximately $2 billion in debt. He also represented the bondholders in the largest-ever Latin American cross-border restructuring of Oi S.A. and led the team advising Empresas ICA, Mexico’s largest construction company, in a $3.5 billion restructuring plan.
