Cleary Gottlieb Wins Two LawWorks 2020 Pro Bono Awards

December 2, 2020

Cleary Gottlieb has won Best New Pro Bono Activity and Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership in the LawWorks 2020 Pro Bono Awards.

The firm received both accolades for its work with two non-profit organizations during the past year:

  • Best New Pro Bono Activity Award: The firm’s partnership with The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network (TERN) to provide over 300 hot meals to London residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the entrepreneurs in TERN’s refugee network are several catering small businesses, many of which have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership: Cleary has sponsored and supported Toynbee Hall’s Free Legal Advice Centre, which was facing the closure of its women-only free legal advice clinic in 2015 due to funding constraints. The firm has been working with the clinic ever since, increasing access to justice for some London’s populations in need. This year, Cleary partnered with Toynbee to launch The Champions Project to support young Black people with aspirations in the legal profession.
