DirectWomen, whose mission is to increase the representation of women lawyers on corporate boards, has named Cleary Gottlieb senior counsel Gabriele Apfelbacher to its 2020 Board Institute class.
The 2020 DirectWomen class is comprised of general counsel of Fortune 500 companies and leading lawyers from top law firms, government, and nonprofit institutions. These distinguished women represent a wide range of business knowledge and experience in their industries, which include finance, energy, telecommunications, retail, and media and entertainment, among others.
Since its inception more than a decade ago, more than 200 women have participated in the Board Institute, and 30% of the Institute’s alumnae now serve as directors of major companies, including Visa Inc., Valero Energy Corporation, Andeavor, The TJX Companies, Inc., and Tesla, Inc.
