International Death Penalty Project Wins American Lawyer ‘Global Pro Bono Dispute of the Year’ Award

The American Lawyer  has recognized Cornell Law School’s International Death Penalty project as the “Global Pro Bono Dispute of the Year” in its fifth annual Global Legal Awards.

Cornell Death Penalty Clinic, in partnership with Cleary Gottlieb, worked to ensure the fair resentencing of nine indigent individuals in Malawi and the development of international legal norms protecting vulnerable persons from the application of the death penalty, including individuals with mental illnesses and intellectual disabilities.
