OpenRouter to Sell to Stripe

Cleary Gottlieb is representing OpenRouter Inc. (OpenRouter) in its announced sale to Stripe LLC (Stripe).

The transaction was announced on August 19, 2026. The terms of the transaction were not publicly disclosed.

OpenRouter is a leading AI infrastructure company that operates a unified API gateway, providing developers with access to over 400 AI models through a single interface. OpenRouter has built a platform that helps businesses dynamically evaluate each request, routing it to the optimal model based on task complexity, price, speed, and reliability, and is used by NVIDIA, Zoom, Lovable, and others.

Stripe is a global financial infrastructure platform that provides payment processing, billing, tax compliance, and fraud detection tools for the world’s fastest-growing businesses, including the vast majority of companies developing and building with AI.
