Anders Jay’s practice focuses on EU and UK competition law and digital regulation.

He advises clients on merger control, abuse of dominance, anticompetitive agreements, market studies/investigations, consumer protection, and State aid, as well as digital regulation such as the EU Digital Markets Act and UK Digital Markets, Competition, and Consumers Act. He has a particular interest in the technology sector.

Anders joined the firm in 2021 from a major international firm in London. In 2023, he worked in Cleary’s Bay Area offices. He is half Swedish, and worked at a firm in Stockholm in 2020.

  • Synopsys, a chip design software company, in relation to its $35bn acquisition of Ansys, a leading simulation and analysis provider (cleared by the CMA at Phase 1 with undertakings).

  • Google in relation to a wide range of matters, including the CMA’s mobile ecosystems market study and Phase 2 market investigation into mobile browsers and cloud gaming; the CMA’s Competition Act 1998 investigation into Google Play (closed without a finding of infringement); the CMA’s SMS investigation into Google’s mobile ecosystem under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024; investigations by the French Competition Authority and Competition Commission of India in relation to Google’s relations with press publishers; various behavioral matters in relation to virtually all aspects of Google’s business.

  • Atlassian, a software company, in relation to its $975m acquisition of Loom, a video messaging platform.
