Cleary Gottlieb Shortlisted for Three LawWorks 2020 Pro Bono Awards
November 11, 2020
Cleary Gottlieb has been shortlisted for three categories in the LawWorks 2020 Pro Bono Awards:
- Best International Pro Bono Award: The FGM Model Law
- Best New Pro Bono Activity: The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network (TERN) and Cleary’s partnership to provide hot meals to London residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
- Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership: Toynbee Hall and Cleary’s London office sponsors and supports Toynbee Hall’s Free Legal Advice Centre, which was facing the closure of its women-only free legal advice clinic in 2015 due to funding constraints. The firm has been working with the clinic ever since, increasing access to justice for some of London’s most vulnerable women. In addition to providing funding, female attorneys from Cleary’s London office volunteer at the clinic and provide one-on-one legal advice for women, by women.
LawWorks is a charity working in England and Wales to connect volunteer lawyers with underserved clients in need of pro bono legal advice.
