Cleary Gottlieb has been honored for advising on Brazilian telecommunications company Oi’s $20 billion restructuring, which won the 2019 Latin Lawyer “Restructuring Deal of the Year” award.
Latin Lawyer noted that the restructuring is the largest in Latin American history and was completed after years of legal battles in several jurisdictions. The Cleary team was quoted in the article, saying that “Oi was the first truly public Brazilian company that issued its bonds in the international markets to go through judicial restructuring since Brazil revised its insolvency laws in 2005.”
This is the second consecutive year that Cleary has received Latin Lawyer’s “Restructuring Deal of the Year” award. Last year, the firm was honored for advising on Odebrecht Óleo e Gás’ successful debt reorganization.
